About Triona Ryan
Growing up in Ballyferriter, a village west of Dingle in Co Kerry, Triona Ryan was immersed in singing and music from a young age. Her father, Denis Ryan is a professional musician and singer in the renowned acapella group Garland. Triona was playing fiddle from the age of 7 and a regular in local trad sessions from the age of 14.
She now lives in Trim, Co. Meath and has been singing on the folk and gospel scene for many years. Triona has just recorded a cover of Up To The Mountain by Patty Griffin as a tribute to her Mum; one of the first people to have passed away in Lockdown Ireland 2020. Triona’s experience of grieving in lockdown and a promise made to her Mum to record this song for her before she died has led to a beautiful version of the song alongside a stunning video.
